Volunteer Opportunities

Call for Certification Coordinators
ISAC and ICCS are seeking volunteer Certification Coordinators for the forthcoming Cytometry Certification Examination. As you may know, ISAC and ICCS recently announced the completion of the cytometry role delineation study, which determined the knowledge, skills and abilities common to all cytometry work settings. The result of the study is the Examination Content Outline, which is attached. The examination will be offered internationally, with the first administration occurring in Summer 2011.

Certification Coordinators are needed for two important tasks. The first is to assist in disseminating information in your region about the certification process by giving short presentations on the advantages of certification to local, regional or national users groups (a comprehensive set of slides will be provided), writing short informational items for local newsletters, serving as a contact point for questions from those potentially interested in becoming certified, translating the certification flyer into your language (if applicable), etc. The second task is to identify subject matter experts who could serve as item writers (which can of course include yourself). In addition to writing and evaluating potential examination questions, item writers will be asked to serve as beta testers for the examination and will be the first individuals to receive the certification credential.

If you are interested in serving as a Certification Coordinator please email Michelle Butler, ISAC Executive Director at mbutler@isac-net.org.

Thank you in advance for your support of this important initiative.
